Main Game: Three players compete. They all start with 500 points. (NOTE: the readouts used are the old Eggcrate style readouts introduced in the late 60s.) They compete to answer a series of jump-in questions starting at first grade and up to fourth grade. Correct answers added 100 points to their score. A wrong answer deducted 100 points from their score. The fifth grade question was a spelling bee in which the player in the lead got to choose one of three envelopes marked "A", "B", and "C". When asked the word, they had to say it, spell it, and say it again. Spelling it correctly added points. (Other shows will have different subjects with three options and use the same rules in scoring.) In the middle school round, the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade questions had multiple answers. The first two questions had at least four answers while the last question had at least seven answers. The first player to jump in got to answer and had the chance to answer at least twice. (In sixth grade, the first player with the correct answer got a bonus prize worth $200.) Each correct answer was worth 250 points. A wrong answer did not affect their score but it did knock them out for the rest of the question. The lowest scoring player at the end of eighth grade was eliminated. In the high school level, correct answers are worth 500 points and minus 500 points for an incorrect answer. The players now have a one-time option to "cut class" and make their opponent answer the question. This goes from ninth grade to 12th grade. In the Senior Year Showdown, the player that was ahead got to choose one of two subjects, and a series of questions were asked until someone stumbles. Right answer was worth 500 points. Get an answer wrong and the other player won the game. (It is possible for one player to win if they trail by a wide margin and the leading player got an incorrect answer.)

End Game: The winning player gets the chance to win $50,000 for college. They have 60 seconds to answer ten questions correctly. If successful, they win $50,000. If unsuccessful, each correct answer was worth $250.
