Main Game: A contestant appears on stage and whispers his/her secret to the host. Then the panelists each have 15 seconds of questioning time to question the contestant about anything related to that secret. Whenver the buzzer sounded, $10 was awarded to the contestant. Each panelist had two questioning periods. (Later, contestants were awarded $20 at the buzzer and each panelist got one questioning period.) This continued until the total reached the maximum of $80, and the game would be over unless one of the panelists successfully nailed the contestant's secret.

Celebrity Guest: When a celebrity guest plays the game, it usually involves what will or what is going to happen during the course of the game. At most times, the panel is blindfolded so they do not know what is going on during the game. Most of the time, the same rules indicated above would be applied here.

INTERESTING FACTS AND TRIVIA

I've Got a Secret was the creation of Allan Sherman, who sold the format to Goodson/Todman, and they appointed him to producer, a position he held until his dismissal several years later.

The current version of I've Got a Secret airs on GSN.

In the early years of I've Got a Secret, their sponsors were cigarette companies. In the early 60s, sponsorship changed to an array of other products, including pain relievers and hair care products.

Home Games: One. Go to the Game Show Home Game Home Page for details.

Episode Existence: The vast majority of episodes exist. One episode from 1976 exists on the trading circuit. However, the first few episodes have gone missing or are lost. (However, in one of the anniversary specials that first aired on CBS, there were a few clips from the very first episode of IGAS.) It is also believed that a majority of episodes from 1950 to 1952 do not exist as Goodson/Todman Productions did not preserve their episodes until a few weeks after I've Got a Secret débuted. Currently, this show is not running on GSN. During the week of August 26, 2002, Game Show Network ran a full week of I've Got a Secret (16 color episodes, 4 black-and-white) from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. EDT.
