Cop Out

Broadcast History: Unsold Pilot, February 15, 1972

Host: Geoff Edwards
Announcer: Johnny Jacobs
Executive Producer: Chuck Barris
Director: John "The Fox" Dorsey
Packager: Chuck Barris Productions
Studio: The Burbank Studios, Burbank, California

Main Game: Eight celebrities (Yes, eight!) are involved. Two contestants compete against each other. One celebrity is asked a question (There were eight questions asked during the show, one for each celebrity.) and they give an answer. Then, they have to lock in whether they were being honest, or if they were just "Copping Out". The objective of the contestant is to determine whether the celebrity was honest or lying. If he/she was right, they got $100. If he/she was wrong, the other player gets $100. The score would see-saw back and forth depending on the contestants' abilities to nail the right answer. (In other words, only one player will have a score and the other will not.) The winner of the game would get $800.
